Welcome to CASA! Meet our newest board members

Please join us in welcoming CASA’s newest board members!

Leslie Sprouse

Meet Leslie Sprouse, a new board member who always comes to the table with fresh ideas and the best event costumes!

Some fun facts about Leslie are:

1. She loves a themed event and an excuse to wear a costume and be social!

2. She enjoys being creative through different platforms; design, photography, event planning, clothing, arts & crafts.

3. She loves to binge-read as much as she loves to binge-watch show series.

4. She loves going to concerts of all genres of music, but a Rock concert is her favorite!

When asked why she wanted to join our board, she says, "I became aware of CASA when my best friend began fundraising and taking my sons to the annual Superhero Run; I loved how CASA took something like a run and made it into something “Super” fun for the entire family (pun totally intended). I then met Kelli Diaz while at work and learned the mission behind CASA and fell in love with the organization, the team behind the dream, and the critical mission that moves us all into action."

Rad Briley

Meet Rad Briley, previous CASA volunteer and new member of our Board of Directors, who is willing to help and always has an interesting story to tell!

Some fun facts about Rad are...

1. He enjoys playing golf and the history of the game. He started playing in 1958 and is still learning today!

2. He loves to fly! (We think he means in a plane but we know it's because he is a superhero!)

3. He enjoys boating with his beautiful wife of 52 years and watching his grandchildren grow.

When asked why he joined the CASA Board, Rad says, "I hope to help CASA to offer support and encouragement to those that have so little of it. For me, when I realized I can’t do everything, I seek to do only what is important. CASA is a great way to Champion the Value of People."

Katie Smith

Meet Katie Smith! Katie is a new board member that is eager to help on committees and doesn't mind dressing up as a banana when we need her to!

Some fun facts about Katie are

1. She's run a full marathon (and broke her foot in the process)

2. Her dream job is to become a professional event planner or bookstore barista!

3. Her dog, Rae, is named after the Virginia Tech fight song...Go Hokies!

When asked why she joined CASA, Katie says, "I joined CASA after one of my best friends, Sarah Saunders, joined the board. She talked to me about all things CASA and encouraged me to volunteer for the Superhero Run. I quickly saw what a great organization this was and how much of an impact they have on children's lives. It was a no brainer when board member spots became available. I wanted to become more involved and give back where I could. Everyone that is involved with CASA is truly amazing, and I can’t wait to see what the future brings for the organization and the families served."
