Olivia’s Story

Olivia is about to turn 4 years old. She has trouble sleeping and frequently wakes up from nightmares due to domestic violence and substance abuse she witnessed in her home. After a recent altercation, her father was arrested and her mother hospitalized. Olivia was placed into the foster care system and the judge assigned her a CASA volunteer.

April, a recently appointed CASA volunteer, assumed the responsibly of Olivia’s case. During her visits, April makes sure that Olivia’s environment is safe. Having learned of Olivia’s love of bubbles and puzzles, April incorporates these activities into their time together. They go outside and blow bubbles before reading Olivia’s favorite story, “Goodnight Moon”. Sadly, Olivia was separated from her older sister, Tasha, who was placed into a different foster home that was not close to Olivia. April was able to advocate for frequent visits between the sisters as well as visitation with their mom. Her face would light up when Tasha walked into the room.

Throughout the length of Olivia’s case, April was able to visit her often. During those visits, April gathered important information that she shared with the judge in her reports. We are happy to report that Olivia is sleeping much better these days! She and Tasha were able to be reunited with their mom, who has a stable job and they are all safe and staying with Olivia’s aunt until they have a permanent home.

Your gift of $30 per month will pay for one new CASA volunteer to go through our 9-week pre-service training course. Because of you, that volunteer will be fully equipped to be the eyes and ears of the judge and the voice for many children during their time as a volunteer.

Your gift of $50 per month will recruit three new CASA volunteers. Because of you, our mission will be in newspaper ads, social media feeds, billboards, and radio ads and three more local citizens will step up to advocate for a child.

Your gift of $100 per month will provide one full year of advocacy for a child like Caleb. Because of you, a child will not have to walk through the most difficult time of his life alone. He will have someone on his side, fighting for what is in his best interest.
