Mental Health & Substance Abuse

and its Impact on the Family

Part 1 in a 2-part series on mental health and substance abuse.

Open to the Public

Presented by:

Rebekkah McLellan, Drugs and Behavior Management Instructor, University of Lynchburg

This 2-part presentation will examine the impact of diagnosed/undiagnosed mental health issues and substance abuse on the family system in which it occurs. It will review the unintentional consequences, social stigma, risk and protective factors, and services and supports that are available in the local community. Participants will better understand why the family, and not just the individual suffering from mental health issues and addiction, must also get help in order to heal and get well.

CASA volunteers will earn 2 in-service hours.
