Veteran education advocate Amy Trail, of the education consultants group FACES, walks through the Special Education process step-by-step, explaining how to secure an IEP or 504 for a child with issues at school. She discusses the 5 domains of childhood development that should be assessed, and the best types of assessments for each. She pinpoints issues and obstacles often experienced by CASA children, and addresses how to ensure how educational services and outside treatment support one another. CASA advocates are eligible for 4 hours of education credit. This is an excellent training for CASA & educational advocates; foster parents; parents and custodians; social workers; teachers--and anyone else wanting to brush up on their Special Education knowledge! Open to the public. Lunch will be provided.
